Homeopathy and hypothyroidism

It is estimated that over 300 million people around globe suffer from underactive thyroid. In fact, there is an invisible epidemic of hypothyroidism sweeping around the world and, approximately around 50% of the cases are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.
The most common cause of thyroid gland failure is called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, a form of thyroid inflammation caused by the patient’s own immune system.
With homeopathy we do not treat disease; homeopathy treats the person as a whole. This means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his present main complaint.  The Homeopathic remedies are selected after a full individualizing consultation and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution, tendency and predisposition is often taken into account. The remedies given below indicate the therapeutic affinity with thyroid gland and those remedies can help and support thyroid gland as well as overall health and constitution of patient.
Homeopathy can offer help with homeopathic remedies. Homeopathic remedies often indicated in cases of hypothyroidism are Calcarea phos, Calcarea carb, Lapis alb, Iodium, Thyroidinum, Spongia, Lycopus, Calcarea iod, Ammonium carb, Graphites etc.
Doris Beauchamp in her book “The Link” states: “ For over or under function of thyroid give remedy “Thyroid gland” in potency a 30c every day for one month, followed by 200c once monthly. This helps to bring back balance.”
However Dr R.F. Rabe, M.D states that in conditions of hypothyroidism the cruder doses or lowest potencies of Thyroiodin are required. He recommend Thyroidin 2x trituration, one tablet four times each day, to give and continued for several weeks, with general improvement. Later he suggest the 3x trit. to prescribe.
Every case of hypothyroidism is individual and from that reason only trough homeopathic consultation we can find out which approach would be the most suitable for the patient.
